Alain Richard<\/p>

1926-2017<\/p><\/p>\n

Born in 1926 in Bretagne, Alain Richard could have become a sailor, but his early skills guide him, between painting and architecture, to the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris. Under the direction of Ren\u00e9 Gabriel, emblematic figure of the aesthetics of reconstruction and spiritual father of a new generation of interior designers, he became major of his promotion ahead of Pierre Guariche to immediately join the agency of his master. But the untimely death of the latter pushed him to found his own agency in 1952 with his wife Jacqueline Iribe, creator of fabrics and specialist in color, with which he will work all his life.<\/p>\n

Alain Richard doubtlessly invented the first French spotlight at the very end of the 1950’s. The lamp is amounted on rods for all different kinds of lighting : sconces, ceiling lights, desk lamps, free standing lamps etc. A few years later, he designed a semi spherical adjustable reflector using the same system.<\/p>\n

The half sphere can be oriented in all directions creating direct or indirect light.
\nThe sober modernity of this lamp combined with a high quality finish and wide range of colours made it a great success for Disderot & Richard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
